Characteristics: Pale rimu is the sapwood. It is a
light brown and of even grain and texture. Not durable &
prone to borer attack.
Traditional uses: Base work, casks and furniture.
Kitchenware and interior fitments. Exterior work only after
treatment.
Generation-4 Timber Top specification:
The sapwood gives a lighter and not so dramatic appearance
as heartwood rimu. The lower grain density is supplemented
by the Generation-4 finish.
The Generation-4 finish presents
a dense but flexible, low maintainance finish, that is waterproof,
acid and heat resistant.
