Botanical Name: Dacrydium cupressinum

Source: A traditional NZ native softwood from throughout the country

Availability: Harvested according to a NZ Govt Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFM)

Air Drying Density: 560 Kg/m3

Characteristics: Pale rimu is the sapwood. It is a light brown and of even grain and texture. Not durable & prone to borer attack.

Traditional uses: Base work, casks and furniture. Kitchenware and interior fitments. Exterior work only after treatment.

Generation-4 Timber Top specification:
The sapwood gives a lighter and not so dramatic appearance as heartwood rimu. The lower grain density is supplemented by the Generation-4 finish.

The Generation-4 finish presents a dense but flexible, low maintainance finish, that is waterproof, acid and heat resistant.
