Air Drying Density: 550 Kg/m3 (England)
Characteristics: The grain is brown to straw coloured
with an attractive, wild interlocked nature. The strong vessels
give it a coarse, distinctive appearance.
Traditional uses: In Europe it is a traditional cabinet
makers material, from which furniture, fitments and especially
coffins were made. A spectacular use is the London sewer pipes,
many of which remail today. NZ stock has been used for furniture,
fitments, panelling and craft work.
Generation-4 Timber Top specification:
The wild grain of Elm makes very striking timber tops. The
open grain is filled by the Generation-4
finish.
The Generation-4 finish
presents a dense but flexible, low maintainance finish which
is waterproof, acid and heat resistant.
